Katie Doyon, CVT, VTSECC developed a passion for helping animals at a young age and pursued her dream by graduating in 2003 with a degree in Animal Science of Veterinary Medicine. After becoming certified as a veterinary technician in 2004, Katie began work with the internal medicine team in the fall of 2004. After giving birth to her first son in 2006, she came back to work for Dr. Matthew Rooney and the emergency team as a floor manager then recently became the advanced skills trainer for the nursing staff and has been a part of the team since.

As a nurse, Katie thrives in emergency medicine and her specific passion is crtiical care nursing, fluid electrolyte balance and transfusion medicine. Being a part of a team that provides every patient “gold standard” patient-care defines Katie as a nurse. Each year Katie attends multiple continuing education seminars to make sure her nursing abilities exceed her patients’ needs and ensures she stay current with advancing veterinary medicine. She was recently speciality certified as a Veterinary Technician Specilaist in Emergency and Critical Care (VTSECC), joining an elite group of nurse’s nation wide. Together with compassion, attention to detail, love and a great nursing staff, Katie is able to alleviate anxiety and pain during your pets stay. Katie feels each day proves to be another rewarding experience as a veterinary technician. 
 
As a Colorado native, Katie Doyon enjoyed growing up in the beautiful rocky mountain region. Every year she and her husband, Shane, two children Blake and Cole, and her great dane "Deja," enjoy spending time together fishing, camping and playing in the mountain air.
