Danielle Huval, DVM

Emergency Veterinarian

Born to a military family in Huntsville, Alabama, as a child, Dr. Huval lived all over the US. She attended Whittier College, a small liberal arts college in the Los Angeles area and received her BA in Biology. She then headed to Colorado State University to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian. After practicing a year in a mixed animal practice in New Mexico, she realized that she really wanted to care for our small animal companions. So she moved on to a small animal and exotic practice in Albuquerque, NM. In 2004, Dr. Huval returned to Colorado to join her now husband and is happy to be home. She has been a weekend doctor on the AECC team since 2004 and a full time emergency doctor since June of 2007.

Dr. Huval’s favorite thing about AMVS is the excellent care and medicine she is able to provide here. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, pain management, surgery, preventative health care, and client education. In May of 2008, she became a certified veterinary acupuncturist at CSU. Dr. Huval is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

In her free time, Dr. Huval enjoys running, hiking, and mountain biking with her husband, training her horse Paloma, and spending time with their three dogs and cat (who thinks he is a dog too). Zia, a little grey tortie, has just recently joined the clan and is by far the most amusing character in the household.
